I just read this article over on Facebook what a great older brother to have on your side. Huffingtonpost

The dad sees the boy's purple game controller, and starts in on the him about how he needs to pick something different. Something more manly. Something with guns and fighting.

It makes you all teary when reading.

While that is a heart-warming story, good going to the big brother, and I only read the first page of comments, I can't believe no one called dad on his abusiveness and the fact that if this happened in a store in front of others imagine what is happening at home. The older son didn't seem surprised that dad was acting like an asshole. If possible the clerk should have found out where these people lived, esp if using a credit card, and reported the situation to child protective. Sorry for the soap box but my step-father was like this asshole (and worse) and we would have given anything for someone in authority to have stepped in and told him to lay off. Thank God the younger son has big brother but dad needs a severe attitude adjustment.

You are right dad was an asshole and I would like to see someone step up to stop him. Yes Dad needs to have an attitude adjustment.

It saddenes and angers me when people act like that to their children.

That's nice of you to say. :) I would have liked to be there. I have never been to a baby shower. We don't have them here. I want to read all about it.

No, we don't have those either. :)

If you are not invited to the wedding (or baptising/naming ceremony or what ever you have for the child) and you still want to deliver a present, you do so at the place where the party is being held or at the house the day before or something. For children you might send a present right after the birth in stead of waiting for the baptising or what_have_you.

That dad is just disgusting...to threaten his kids with physical violence? God, he's the lowest of the low...no, wait...he's even lower than that...and to think that he threatened them over something this unimportant? I really have no words!

Good for the older boy for sticking up for his younger brother! Liking girls' games and a purple controller is nothing bad or wrong!
