lijahlover: Froday icon (Froday)

A quick question before my computer dies. Does anyone know how to make bitmap go away when I click on an icon?

This computer doesn't let me upload and change icons like the laptop or kids computer does.

If I can click on something to change the file type that would be great. I have a couple cool icons I want to change for Halloween and can't thanks to this computer. :(

bitmap is a type of graphics file. It's high quality but lj doesn't accept it for icons.

You have to change it to jpg or gif using a graphics program.
You could use mspaint, it comes with windows.

Press the windows icon on the taskbar. then go to run, click there and just type --> mspaint

In the program, browse to the place where you have your icon, open it and save it as jpg or gif. It'll be a smaller size and you can upload it.

Other people may have better ideas.

You can also right click on the icon you want to upload. A list appears, go to "Open with" a smaller list with programs appears, choose "paint."

Then save as jpg if it's a still photo, or gif if it moves.

Thanks I'll see if I can figure this out. Why it is different from the other computers I'll never know.

Just open the file in paint or another programme that allows you to convert pictures into other types.

Paint comes with your PC (if it's a Windows PC). Another great programme for working with pictures is Photoscape which you can download for free online.

Once you've opened the picture in one of those programmes, just go to "save as" and you can choose the type you want for that pic/icon.

It should be listed under Accessories, in the Programs section of the Start menu. Or, you can run it directly, like Herumtreiber suggests.

Thanks I just dont know why this computer is different from the other one and the laptop. They confuse me so much.

Herum sounds like he at least knows what to do.
