I went and watched the 7:30 showing of The King's Speech and was blown away by how brilliant it was. Colin and Helena were brilliant. I laughed many times and it had me close to tears as well. It moved me and the acting was so powerful and just perfect. Yes it deserved best Actor and Picture. I think it won best Director as well but not positive about that.

I felt like clapping when it was over and could have since I was the only one in the theater. This is one movie that is worth the praise and they would have robbed Colin if he didn't get an Oscar for his performance but they have robbed many before him and will continue to do so. I can see buying this and watching it over again.

It's such a great film, right? It was a lot funnier than I thought it would be. It did win Best Director - it's briliant to see it do so well at the Oscars. :)

hard to believe you were the only one in the theater. there's usually a good crowd after a movie wins best picture. but still, it's cool to have the whole theater to yourself. :)

there was clapping at the end when i saw it so, you could have went for it. TKS is just that damn good. i don't know anyone who's seen it and not love it. it'll be in my reforming collection too.

He really should have won Best Actor for A Single Man last year as well, and it should have at least been up for Best Picture. It made me cry in the first five minutes of the film!

I would love to watch him in A Single Man and cry over his role. He can bring me to tears if he tries he is that good at bringing out my emotion.

It was an awesome movie, subtle and simple but a little more complicated than you realize at first. It was genuinely good cinema, the way they emphasized certain things with such subtle stuff like color brightness or lighting. Really cleverly crafted.

Yes it was all well done and I have always adored well made movies that make you feel not just big blockbuster movies with tons of explosions. I like those kind of movies but I have a wide variety that I love to watch and I'm not a 13 year old boy *chuckles*

Colin Firth should have gotten the Oscar for A Single Man. That performance was outstanding in every way.
King's Speech was a nice movie, but there were movies I liked a lot better this year like Black Swan, The Fighter, Inception and 127 Hours. And it's still a mystery to me why King's Speech won best director and I'm really not alone with this opinion. There was nothing special about this tv style directing. I'm not saying TV style it bad, on the contrary, and Tom Hooper is a tv director after all, but it's in no way Oscar worthy. But the academy loves movies like this, so I don't think they'll ever honor geniuses like Chris Nolan or David Fincher.
And it was refreshing to see Helena Bonham Carter in a non weirdo strange Tim Burton movie role for a change.
/little Oscar rant. lol

Well I will need to watch A Single Man and see what I think I'm sure he was brilliant in it he just is a brilliant talented actor. I also can't wait to watch The Fighter so after I watch it I will see wich I enjoyed more as a movie.

Yes The Academy lives for moviesw like this :)

I adore Helena but it is lovely to see her in a normal role like you said for a change.

Feel free to rant about Oscar I have MANY years LOL!

Great movie all around:) Though I think he wouldn't have been robbed if James Franco had won for 127 Hours. That was superb acting as well. In fact I was torn between those two and would have wished for a tie;)
